Dead Man's Hand
This is a poster that I made on my own time for myself. I wanted to focus on type and keep the design balanced. I chose the color red because it has a strong contrast against the background. I used textures and different brushes to add a grunge feel.

December 1

Both of these projects were created for Graphic Symbolism. The goal of the projects was to show an event without using any type, but only graphic images.
California Frog Jumping Contest
For this design, I researched about frog jumping contests, since I was unfamiliar with them. I found out that the frogs jump three times before their distance is measured. With this knowledge, I decided to make a frog and show that it has jumped more than once. I used the state outline of California and put it into perspective with the direction that the frog was jumping to give it more visual interest.

Tokyo Flower Show
For this design I chose to create a character in a Japanese style. I added a pattern in the background for more visual interest, and chose a light blue to compliment the rest of the colors.

November 24

This was one project for creating an identity for a resort. The resort I was given was Spannocchia, a farm in Italy. I chose to give the design a rustic look. Instead of using a typeface, I designed the logo type by hand. The colors I chose are meant to reflect upon the Italian flag colors.

This project was designed to be an advertisement. It is meant to be an ironic image since the dog in the image is being bad, but the slogan asks if your dog deserves Alpo. This design is styled in the collage style.

Typography Event Flyer
This design was made in Typography class. The goal of the project was to create a type oriented design for an event. I chose to have my design tilted at a 45 degree angle to add visual interest. Deciding what was the most important, I arranged the words by size for visual hierarchy. I was careful not to fill up too much space, as I wanted to leave some negative space to help even more with the hierarchy.

This was another poster design I created for Taco Ole. For this one, I created the spiral design in Adobe Illustrator and then placed it into perspective in Photoshop. I created perspective on the "NOW $1" to go against the perspective of the taco photo to add visual interest.

Canyon Farms Labels
These labels were created in Packaging Design using a template. The goal was to create labels for Canyon Farms ( a company that makes and sells organic juices and smoothies). I created the type in the logo by hand in Adobe Illustrator. Then I created the seed in the logo in Illustrator also. I chose green to be the main color of the labels since I think of green when I hear organic.

Aerostar Advertisement
This advertisement was made for Aerostar (a company that sells inflatables for advertising). I created a slogan and used mostly type to get the message across. I made the words RISE ABOVE using Illustrators 3D feature. I wanted to give the words and inflated look as if they were a balloon.

November 3

Taco Olé Poster
This poster was created for a made-up restaurant I created called Taco Olé. This poster would be shown in the restaurant to promote the new gourmet nachos. I used a gradient for the background and added a pattern.  I created the logo to resemble a face with a tortilla and a mustache made from two peppers.

Democracy Poster
This was a project I created with Brett Knox for a then upcoming lecture at South University. We chose to use the colors of the American flag and to have a simple flat design. The title was placed at the top and is larger to give it the top visual hierarchy. The reader with then read the date, time, and place.

Retro Plus Arcade Poster
This was a poster I designed for the Retro Plus project. I designed the poster to look like an arcade machine. By using different tints and shades of the same color and putting them into perspective, I created some depth to a flat image. I was pleased with how this project came out, but I would like to rework this design and give it a more realistic or stylized look.

Hope For Japan - Red Cross
This project was made in Advertising. The goal of this project was to create a PSA advertisement that would be in magazines to try and get readers to donate to the Red Cross to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan. I decided that the best way to achieve this goal would be to have the readers send a text message to donate. Using the home button on the phone, I related it to the red circle on the Japanese flag. I was pleased with how this project came out, and after refining it I even more pleased.
